Labor Prep Program for Mothers
Our labor program centers around PT for pregnancy that can prevent perineal tearing, shorten labor, improve the chances of vaginal birth, and reduce the risk of traumatic birth. Dr. Kailee will create a custom care plan based on your specific needs and goals, and our program can be performed virtually from the comfort of your home.
As part of our labor prep program, you’ll receive education and clinical support in a range of techniques, including:
- HOW TO RELAX YOUR PELVIC FLOOR: This is the foundation of our program. Learn to relax your pelvic floor through breathing, touch, and mental hacks.
- HOW TO PUSH: This is imperative for first-time moms, second-time moms who tore during their first labor, or moms aiming for a VBAC. It is one of the most overlooked skills in preventing perineal tearing.
- PERINEAL MASSAGE: Our perineal massage method helps to break down scar tissue, relax muscles, and teach the brain that the sensation of crowning is "safe" to prevent perineal tearing
- POSITIONS THAT ARE BEST FOR YOUR BODY AT EACH STAGE OF LABOR: Learn what positions you push in best and which ones open your pelvis to help prevent stalls in labor, improve chances of vaginal birth and prevent perineal tearing. This goes beyond what you learn in childbirth education and helps you find what is best for your muscles, bones, and joints.
- PAIN MANAGEMENT: Confidently manage pain with techniques that you won't learn in childbirth ed class. These tools are helpful if you want an epidural or want to go medication-free. This can help improve the chances of a vaginal birth.
- ADDRESS FEARS SURROUNDING BIRTH: We all have fears about labor. We help you learn how to calm your nervous system and relax your pelvic floor in the face of these triggers to prevent perineal tearing, c-section, and traumatic birth. If you have a trauma history or history of traumatic birth, we also address triggers that may arise in labor.
Some of the benefits of our labor prep program include:
- Preventing perineal tearing
- Shortening the duration of labor
- Preventing traumatic birth
- *Preventing c-section
*We know that c-sections can be lifesaving and we're thankful that we have them in modern medicine. However, they do come with higher risks, so we help moms work to prevent them.
